A Word from Daddy...

I sit here as a daddy and marvel at the sight of my son. The hardest part is to know the challenges he will face as he grows older. As a dad, I will always be there to encourage him through each one. I heard a song the other night with the following chorus,

"My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, you never need to carry more than you can hold. And while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish."

The words of the song represent so much of what I want for Owen. Thank you God for the blessing of my son. Please walk with him as he grows older and carry him when he feels too weak to face this world. Lord, this is "My Wish"...

this morning before getting ready for church, i saw more balloons right off the back patio of grammie and gampa's house. a wonderful view from the comforts of home.

look what i found?

i've been searching and searching and i think i finally found it...my thumb. at least for now. we'll see if it's just a brief discovery or a long-term habit. mommy and daddy have mixed feelings. the way i see it, if my food source is portable thanks to mommy, perhaps my paci should be as well.

my modeling debut

so mommy and daddy got so busy with all our recent visitors that they totally forgot to put up a few pics from my recent modeling photo session for the 'lil joey cloth diapers by rumparooz. i've been telling them they need to make them available...after all, i'm sure my fans are waiting! here are just a few of my favorites.

what a cutie patootie!

today we got to see the photos from my photography session last friday. although the pictures are not edited yet, mommy and daddy still think they are pretty cute. i don't remember being in any of the poses or wearing the hats. i guess a warm room and a belly full of milk will do that to a boy. anyway, i hope you enjoy a sample of my pictures. if you think these are precious, wait until lora gets them edited. not that i'm not cute as a button already, but a little touch up never hurt anybody. here's a peek at what mommy and daddy are getting. thank you lora and precious poses photography. you sure know how to make a boy look his best.

sporting my lil' joey diaper at home

today was a big day. at my newborn photo session last week, lora (the photographer) made mommy and daddy a proposition. she was hired to do some promotion shots and a video for rumparooz, a major cloth diaper brand based here in colorado. lora thought that i was so cute and would make a good model for the new "lil' joey" diapers made especially for newborns. so, today was my first official day as a baby model! mommy took me to the studio this morning where lora took lots of pictures of me in the diapers. they kept changing my diaper and i couldn't figure out why - i hadn't even gone potty yet! i guess they wanted to get me in different colors. i even wore a purple one! the still photos will be used on the rumparooz website, as well as other retailer websites.

plus, lora also took some video of me that she will work into the promo video they are shooting for the website. it's being put to a new song by uncle jim (he is actually the guitarist for jimmy buffet, but also does children's stuff on the side).

mommy was so proud that a professional thought i was cute enough to be a model, especially for a great cloth diaper...the ones that she intends on switching me to soon anyway! and we got some free lil' joeys out of the deal, too. so fun! i can't wait to look back on the photos someday and tell all my friends about my modeling debut. now, i am just like my gampa - i am a baby model and he won a baby photo contest! yeah us, gampa!

as if that wasn't enough excitement, i also had some visitors come see me this afternoon. three ladies from my mommy's work wanted to come over and meet me for the first time, as well as bring lunch to mommy. it was great to meet you donna, christie, and hannah. thanks for being so gentle with me and letting me sleep the whole time. and the chinese food was yummy...it added a little kick to mommy's milk tonight and i didn't want to stop nursing! yum, i can already tell i'm gonna like spicy food just like my daddy!

say cheese!

today i experienced my first photo shoot. i guess mommy and daddy think i'm pretty cute and wanted to capture my tinyness. so they scheduled a newborn photo session for me with precious poses photography studio here in denver. my photographer was lora swinson. she was great...gentle, warm, loving, patient, and talented.

at first, i kept wiggling and squirming because i was wide awake. so i nursed a bit and lora turned up the heat really high. it wasn't long before i went limp and stayed asleep during most of the session. apparently, she put me in all kinds of cute poses and set-ups from resting on a nubby blanket in a wooden crate to balancing on my tummy atop a stack of towels. i hear she also adorned me with a variety of cute and fun knitted hats - the pics mommy is most excited about.

all i know is that one minute i was filling my tummy with yummy milk, and two hours later i was in the car on the way home. i guess most of the action occurred while i was fast asleep. oh well, i guess it was for the best...i don't think i would have been as cooperative if i was wide awake. check back in a few weeks to see the photos. i'm kind of interested myself to see exactly what they did to me.
